"Woodturning As An Art Form"

How to recognize it, categorize it, and improve form and presentation.

 

The demo fee is $35 for members and $45 for non-members.  Lunch is included.  Send your checks

¨       Tania will start the day with a slide presentation on textures and colors.  There will be a discussion on how to evaluate these two processes and why they can be successful if correctly applied to the work.

¨       Texture Demonstration Tania will show different techniques to the attendees on textures, colors, carving, and she will provide attendees the opportunity to try some of these techniques at the end of the lesson.

¨       Cold Bend Hardwood and Elements of Art Lesson Tania will introduce to the attendees the Cold Bend Hardwood material, how it is made, its different applications, and how she uses it in her work.  She will end the presentation with a discussion on how to apply Elements of Art to woodturning.

¨       Critique During the last hour of class Tania will offer critique time. Everyone is encouraged to bring current work to be critiqued.  She will give a fair and honest assessment. Her constructive criticism will help each individual learn to evaluate his/her own work and push it to a higher level.

¨      Background Tania has a life-long dedication to art in wood form, she holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts - Wood.  Much of her work has won special recognition, and a great deal of it is found in the finest galleries around the country.  She teaches Critical Thinking Skills and Learning in an Information Age at Axia College in Phoenix, AZ.  Her work can be seen at www.taniaradda.com

Aviador Street is north of the Camarillo Airport and is reached from the Central Ave. exit off of US 101: go south and turn left (east) on the Ventura Blvd. frontage road, then right (south) on to Aviador St.  About three-quarters of the way to the dead end, on the left is a long building.  Levi's shop is the last two doors on the left on the south side of the building.  Please park directly in front of or behind his shop or against the curb on the north side of the building and not in front of other shops.  You may also park on Aviador St.

 Saturday, 4 December, will be the Holiday Party at Al and Lynn Geller's home.
